|Dakar Rally 2015: El Martillo Racing Dodge Durango Mexico dunes test trip|
The main purpose of the [ EL MARTILLO RACING ] team test session in the desert of Mexico was to test the recent improvements and upgrades made to the Dodge Durango prototype rallycar. "We chose the Altar desert because of the similar weather and terrain conditions that the team will find in South America," the team reported.
The new Central Tire Inflation System worked flawlessly. This system allows the tire pressure to be adjusted from inside the car, rather than the slow process of stopping and manually airing down each tire. The new industrial size air conditioning system proved itself in helping with comfort. The new coolers helped with fluid temperatures and will get even more air flow with the addition of more scoops, in the Durango's body.
Unfortunately, the test was cut one day short due to an internal engine issue. This is a very rare occurence, and the team is confident that the guys at Redline Performance will have it rectified in no time. The team made the decision to remove the engine at our bivouac, in the desert, and get it to the US.
About the relationship between the teammates and the new Pit Crew, Scott Rattray, everything worked perfect improving a good team. All in all, a very successful test, even with it being cut short. "El Martillo Racing" is moving in the right direction for Dakar 2015.
