Dos Sertões Rally: The 18th edition has announced its 2010 schedule.
This year the ten-day great Brazilian challenge will be held from 10th through 20th August to cross some of the most stunning and demanding sceneries any racer will ever find or experience. Starting in Goiânia in the very heart of the South American continent and ending in the beautiful seaside Fortaleza in the Northeast, the race will cross parts of the rough and sometimes untouched Brazilian countryside.
The traditional and challenging "Rally dos Sertões" should again encompass over 5,000 km on a variety of ground surfaces, offering drivers and crews the most complete set of challenges in the cross country world.
In 2010, the total length of all Sertões editions held since 1992 will surpass the landmark of two complete laps around the globe. The 2009 edition comprised over 190 vehicles considering cars, trucks, bikes and quads. With 5,045 km of distance, the race had participants from 11 countries, including the official Volkswagen team, the winner with driver Carlos Sainz and co-driver Lucas Senra.
The 2009 edition of the Rally dos Sertões also was granted the FIM Environmental Award for its program to prevent and eliminate wastes derived from competition activities. The event also yearly provides a comprehensive aid program to help local communities to improve their life standards.
Competitors may opt for two accommodation packages. Selected hotels for resting and relaxing time will be booked by the official event travel agency.
Another option is the Vila Sax, where racers will enjoy services such as customs management, masseur, physiotherapist cares, bilingual services, special diets and other personal or sportive demands for all competitors. The Vila Sax also offers bivouacs for drivers and special tents for vehicles.
Entries for all categories are already open through the website [ www.sertoes.com ]. Further information may be obtained with Sabrina Proença, Race Secretariat [ sabrina@dunas.com.br ].
