|FIA WORLD CUP: X-raid´s Holowczyc / Schulz the new World Champions.|
Finally the "Baja Portalegre 500" in Portugal has finished today after two rounds of nearly 200 kms each, mostly straight and in fast speed during fields and trees between masses of spectators which were enjoying the event really!
But the most important: We have a new FIA World Champion Team! Krzysztof Holowczyc from Poland and his German Navigator Andreas Schulz finished the Portuguese rally first with their X-raid Mini All4 Racing and secured their World Champion title overall (and T1 class) with 147 points.
In the T2 class the provisional winners in the FIA World Cup are the Russians Alexander Baranenko and Roman Elagin with their Toyota Land Cruiser 200, which also started in Portugal and finished as 5th there (06:21:53).
Their nearest rivals, legendary Frenchman Jean-Louis Schlesser and Spaniard Joan Nani Roma didn´t start in Portugal, but secured their second (Schlesser, 126 pts, Buggy) and third (Roma, 120 pts, X-raid Mini All4 Racing) positions. Nunzio Coffaro (Venezuela, Toyota Overdrive) inofficially made the fourth place with 70 points in front of Czech Miroslav Zapletal (Hummer H3 Proto) with 64 points.
In Portugal the rally finished on Saturday afternoon, the winners here are Krzysztof Holowczyc and Andreas Schulz (05:09:59) in front of Martin Kaczmarski from Poland and Filipe Palmeiro from Portugal with 05:08:39 hours in their "Lotto" X-raid Mini All4 Racing and the locals Pedro and Inês Grancha (BMW X1 Proto, 05:28:13).
They were followed by Marek Dabrowski / Jacek Czachor (Poland, Nissan Navara, 05:31:07) and the Russians Boris Gadasin / Aleksei Kuzmich (G-Force Proto, 05:34:18).
