Former WRC-driver Freddy Loix joins Team Dakarsport.com.

The Dutch rally team Dakarsport.com presented its drivers line-up in Paris at the presentation of A.S.O. on the next Dakar Rally. The team’s new top driver is Freddy Loix, who had a 10-year WRC career in which he made 50 top-10 positions. Loix currently competes in the IRC. "It will be my third Dakar and I’m honoured that Dakarsport.com has given me the chance to compete at a higher level. We’re working hard now to tune the new Bowler Nemesis for the extreme conditions in Argentine and Chile" said Loix.

Being the largest team in the Dakar after Volkswagen Motorsport, Dakarsport.com has registered again for all competitions: motorbikes, cars, trucks and quads. Team owner Roland Rijpma: "The sporting advantage is we can all help each other on the stages and in the bivouac. And, very important, we can guarantee our partners and sponsors exposure, even if we do not score in one of the competitions."

Ten-time Dakar competitor Hans Bekx will lead the three race trucks of the team, which will race for the podium against the other top teams from mainly Russia and The Netherlands. With the motorbikes Portuguese Paulo Gonçalves will aim for a top-10 position and Dutch racer Mirjam Pol is a candidate for winning the women’s title.

Former MotoGP racer Jurgen van den Goorbergh will make his postponed debut in the Dakar, but has already shown in the Central Europe Rally in April to be a very fast learner. Biggest candidate in the team for winning his class is quad racer Alex Brusselers, who won the Tuareg Rally last April, driving an ever less powerful machine than his Dakar rivals in the same rally.

The team’s provisional line-up for Dakar 2009:

Bikes: Jurgen van den Goorbergh (NL), Mirjam Pol (NL), Paulo Gonçalves (Portugal), Christopher Jarmuz (Poland) en Vadim Pritulyak (Kazachstan)

Cars: Freddy Loix (Belgium), Tim Coronel (NL), Roeland Voerman (NL)

Trucks: Hans Bekx, Pierre Blom, André de Boer (all NL)

Quad: Alex Brusselers (NL)

Later this year two bikes and possibly one Bowler Nemesis will be added to this line-up. The entire team will consist of approximately 60 people: drivers, mechanics and media assistants. The Dakar Rally will be driven between 3 and 18 January 2009 in Argentina and Chile with start and finish in Buenos Aires.
