|Greece 24 Hours TICKER: Edvin Kasimati and his very bad day on a bike.|
This morning (04:43 CET, 05:53 local time) we saw a very tired Edvin Kasimati, in his main job organizer of the "Albania Rally" - here riding as competitor with his KTM for the podium... "It was not in my plan to sleep" he laughed, happy about a first coffee in his hands - in the past years also the bikes were allowed to ride all the 24 hours, in this year the bikes had to make a break during the second stage.
"Yesterday I had such a bad day, really bad," he said with a smile. He is listed as 5th with 07:53:15 hours, not bad usually, so what happened?
"Well, it all began that I had to stop because I ran out of fuel," he reported. "This was stupid, I know. So I parked the bike next to the stage... but obviously not secured it as I should. My bike fell down a small hill, I wanted to hold it and also fell. Perfect, a bush full of thorns absorbed the fall, I found myself up to the neck in the thorns. But this wasn´t all, exactly in this moment the first car passed me above and gave me a fresh muddy shower..."
Sounds really like a bad day. "David Peterson from Sweden stopped and helped me and my bike back on the track. I told him that I ran out of fuel and he offered to share fuel with me - but how to handle? We both had no jerrycan or something similar... So I took the plastic cover of my papers, formed a shell of it and refueled my bike milliliter for milliliter," he added.
"I could finish the race and was astonished about my good position. But the last two hours of the stage were really hell, it was raining continuously. It wasn´t possible to wear the glasses because with them you didn´t see anything. Hopefully today it will be better." Edvin, we are with you!
