After having demonstrated the reliability and performance of the Lancer racing vehicles entered in the 2010 Dakar with their 5 clients positioning within the first 13 places of the general ranking, the JMB Stradale Off Road team will be soon leaving for the Ha’il Baja which is supported by the HRH Prince Saud Bin Abdul Mohsen Bin Abdul Aziz, Ha’il Governor, and President of the Supreme Commission for the Ha’il development and rally.
Member of the JMB Stradale team and winner of the "petrol" category of the 2010 Dakar with his driver, Carlos Sousa, the French co-driver Matthieu Baumel was at the origin of this partnership. The tandem Al-Rajhi/Baumel have raced in traditional rallies together for almost 2 years and came in 3rd in the Middle East FIA Championship in 2009. For their first experience, in Cross Country Rallies, the duo won, last year, the 2009 Ha’il Baja.
Matthieu Baumel relates their adventure: "Yazeed Al-Rajhi is a young 29 year old driver with a lot of potential. Last year, Yazeed wished to experience a cross country rally and won the first and only rally in which we entered. For 2010, it would be interesting to participate in the full FIA International Cross Country Baja Cup. It’s a point to be pondered" comments Matthieu.
Nicolas Misslin, the President of Stradale Off Road, has gone back to being a full time business man, after his participation in the Dakar Rally and the workshop in Boz, France, is now concentrating on the 2010 cross country calendar. "It’s a great opportunity to be present on the Ha’il Baja in Saudi Arabia" comments Nicolas. "The Middle East is an interesting market and has a real culture for mechanical sports. Even though our petrol cars are penalized compared to the diesel cars by the present regulations, the results are good and the reliability of our racing vehicles has been proved. The clients appreciated very much the comfort and performances. We are sending a small technical team to Saudi Arabia as 2/3 or the personnel will stay in Boz to
work on the racing cars arriving from Buenos Aires and to finish the new cars we are developing."
The JMB Manager Dominique Serieys will be present in Saudi Arabia in order to place as much chance as possible on Yazeed and Matthieu’s side as they are striving to keep their title. "We had not yet participated in a race held in Saudi Arabia, even before when we were MMSP SAS. We must continue to work in this direction as our knowhow will bring us to new horizons. We’ve not given much rest to our technical team, just back from the Dakar, however it’s a race which will be very interesting and intense. We are hoping for the best results possible with the young and talented Yazeed Al-Rajhi" States Dominique Serieys.
