|Hellas Rally: Summer is back, stages became more tough, changes on top.|
After a cold and rainy start of the "Hellas Rally Raid" in Greece last Tuesday, the summer came back on Wednesday. The SS02 was with 451 kilometers (252 kms timed section in three single stages) the second longest stage of the rally and mixed the rankings in all categories. The day was not only long (the last participants arrived in the night), also many teams retired or went out of the stage.
In the bikes, the Austrian Matthias Walkner was the new leader with his KTM EXC450 and 06:59:31 overall in front of Ondrej Klymciw (CZ, Husqvarna, 07:04:30), Prata Pedro Bianchi (Portugal, Husqvarna, 07:15:27), Roberto Barbieri (Italy, Beta, 07:16:13) and Christian Pastori (Italy, Beta, 07:16:57).
Also the ranking in the cars saw a new leader: The French duo Jerome Pelichet and Eugenie Decré (Overdrive Toyota) were now in front with 01:19:20 (pointed) hours and have a lead of 17:51 minutes to the Isarelian crew of Raz Heyman and Hillel Segal (Segal Proto) and 24:19 mins to the third, Stavros Dimitriadis and Panagiotis Kalfas from Greece (Mitsubishi Pajero). Fourth became the Bulgarian Toyota Hilux from the team Cholakov / Granchev, fifth the T2-Mitsubishi Pajero V70 of Shpira / Moldawsky from Israel.
"We were leading the day after our bad luck on Tuesday," told Hillel Segal. "But then we made some small navigation mistakes and the Toyota overtook us. But it was great fun, a fight on the top all day long, that´s what we like!"
In the quads, Eddy Jerak from Slovenia (Arctic Cat) could hold his first position with now 08:02:48 hours. Behind him Thanasis Kouvas (Greece, MT Rally, 08:31:10) and George Metaxas (08:39:10, Yamaha Raptor).
