HunGarian Baja: Comments after the first day (bike / quad) .

István NAGY (KTM EXC 450): “Almost everything was OK: the usual good quality of the tracks, the perfect track signalization, the excellent organization, but the starting order with the 30 sec gaps between the riders was a bit bad. We couldn’t see anything because of the dust from the previous bikes, but apart from this everything was correct.”

Richárd HODOLA (Suzuki DRZ 400): First I have to get to know the circumstances because this is my first time here. The track is very fast, technical, with many turns. If someone can take these turns well he or she can achieve very good time results. But one has to be careful as well, since there are such jumps on which it is easy to crash ourselves in a minute. The bike behaved absolutely well, though the running gear seemed to be a little hard at some places.

László SZABÓ (Bombardier Quest): I have been racing in cross-country for some years already but I have never ridden under such conditions that at daylight in sunshine the eyeshot is at most 10 meter. This is rarity. I didn’t even know where I was, the only thing I was sure about not to pass out from the dust cloud to left or right because there is no road over there. This stage didn’t belong to the easy specials, I tried to adapt to the conditions and bring out the best from it.”

Tamás MÉSZÖLY (Polaris Outflaw 525): “Usually we start after one minute following each other at the races, so when I can see the edge of the dust-coat of the previous rider I can be by about an estimated half minute difference behind him. Now we were starting within 30 seconds, so practically I have been riding in the dust of the other all the way long. Moreover there is the biggest dust where it requires some work for the ride, where the track is straight the dust is much vanishing. The saints were with us all the way long that no problem happened to us.”

Zoltán HANGODI (Yamaha Raptor 700): “The first special stage was very bad for us because I have left long seconds in the start. The dust is extreme, I couldn’t see anything. I have been always fighting for my life, riding with 30-40 km/h, praying not to find anything in front of me. I hope tomorrow the track conditions will be better.”
