Hungarian Baja: Loprais Tatra Team heading to Hungarian Baja.

After the ultimate success at Central Europe Rally, which started up the new racing program o Loprais Tatra Team, the team is setting of for its second performance in 2008 in Hungary, on fast and tricky tracks of the Hungarian Baja. The Baja is going to take place on August 22-24 on dusty tracks nearby Veszprem and it is an officially sanctioned FIA event for cross-country bajas as well as an official event of the Hungarian, Czech and Slovak cross-country rally championships. Unlike the second round of the Dakar Series held in Portugal, it comprises also the truck race as a part of the Open class.

The team is to prove its ambitions to claim the win, whereas the starting list of trucks includes at least 10 crews. The testing and development programs are perhaps even greater reasons to participate. "The latest modifications of the chassis and a new setup for suspension and damping have taken some of our time but we have reached a real progress, although we originally thought the setup was at its optimum. I have personally visited the development center of Fox and I am pleased to test the new damping setup, which has taken us a real step forward. I can drive in a more aggressive and rally-type way. And last but not the least: the Hungarian Baja is extremely fast and hot. It might be the right place to test the cooling system at extreme temperatures," Ales Loprais says.

The rally will be started by short super special near Balatonfüred on August 22 and then two extremely intensive stages are to follow. The specials cover stony, dusty and generally very bad surfaces in a particularly hot weather and will be broken by intermissions in service zones. "At Dakar 2009, all extremes in terms of temperature or track qualities can be on the way to the finish. The right preparation and testing in this phase of the season is therefore more than needed. And last but not the least: it’s nice to make such an intensive session quite close to the team headquarters in a place easily accessible by Czech fans who are certainly invited to come to Veszprem," team manager Milan Loprais added.
