|Hungarian Baja: Sandlander’s quad racer Somfai “I will give my best"|
Hungary is just one week away from hosting another motorsport competition after WTCC and Formula 1. Matthias Somfai, who is preparing for the next Dakar, will take part in the "Hungarian Baja" between the 15th and the 18th of August. According to him this is one of the most important races for him because it is located in his homeland and he prepared for it in extreme circumstances.
Somfai has declared his whole season to two racers. First of all, he would like to achieve a great result at the Hungarian Baja and moreover, he will take part in the Dakar next year for the first time. "The Baja means a lot to me, this is 'The Race'," he said. "All of the Hungarian racers would like to prove themselves in their homeland. I will have the chance to compete with world-class racers, who have already taken part in the Dakar."
According to him, the Hungarian Baja is going to be a very good opportunity for the Dakar preparation. He will do everything for a good result but it is also important to him to cross the finsh line safely.
"The new technology, we have, is almost complete. This vehicle has been prepared for the Dakar and it was completely rebuilt. It is important to keep it safe during the race but do not worry, I will do everything from my power to achive a good result at the Baja. If I do not make any mistake then I think the result will be good," the Sandlander Team’s racer said.
He is confident because he just came back from Morocco, where he prepared for the race in the desert. "Our original destination was Tunis but because of the riots we had to choose another destination. I think it turned out positively because I had the chance to train in 55-60 Celsius. I drank 8 liter of water per day and thanks to my special clothes I managed to survive the trips. I think that I am getting better and better every day and what is more important that I have learnt how to think and act in extreme circumstances," Matthias Somfai added.
