Hungarian Baja: Worldcup Elite is meeting in Hungary this weekend.

As mentioned few days ago, another world champion of rally will be greeted at the Hungarian Baja 2008, round of the FIA Baja Worldcup. He is the double winner of world championship, named Miki Biasion, who won the world championship with the legendary Lancia Delta in 1988 and 1989.

Cross-country is not unknown for the Italion pilot, because he participated at the Italian Baja with a truck, in addition he driven an Iveco at the Dakar in 2006. A year later he started with his socalled Fiat "PanDakar", which can also be seen during the Hungarian Baja 2008, which will start this weekend in Balatonfured and Veszprem.

Biasion will participate with a Mitsubishi L200 Proto, in the same category like the 2007 World Champion Boris Gadasin (Russia, Nissan Navara) or the Hungarian Celebrity Laszlo Palik (Nissan Navara).

Next to Biasion and Gadasin many international "big names" of the FIA Baja Worldcup will start in Hungary. The German-based X-Raid BMW-Team will start with the actual leader of the Worldcup, the Qatari Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah, also with the French Guerlain Chicherit and the Russian Leonid Novitsky, this year´s winner of the "Northern Forest Baja" in St. Petersburg/Russia.

From the Netherlands there will be Tonnie van Deijne (Mitsubishi L200 Strakar), from Germany Tino Schmidt (Ralliart Mitsubishi Pajero), from the Czech Republic Miroslav Zapletal (Mitsubishi L200 Strakar) and Zdenek Porizek (X-Raid BMW X5CC), from Latvia Janis Naglis (Mitsubishi Pajero) and Janis Azis (OSCar), from Portugal Rui Sousa (Isuzu D-Max) and from Belgium Vincent Thijs (Mitsubishi Pajero) next to many other competitors from all over Europe and surely Hungary.

46 Cars in the International and regional (Hungarian and Czech Championship), 3 Buggies in the Open Class, 6 Trucks (with the legendary Tatra of Ales Loprais from Czech Republic), 35 Quads and 21 Motobikes are starting near the Balaton Lake.

"The municipality of Balatonfured is glad to be able to support popular and spectacular sport events; therefore, the town hosts more and more international races. This spring, Balatomfured had the honour to give place to the final ceremony of the Central European Rally" said Dr. Istvan Bóka, Mayor of the famous city. "This year, we are more than happy to accept the request to be the patron of the fifth Hungarian Baja. I truly hope that we will be part of a great event again! In the name of the citizens of the town, I wish all the participants a successful race without any accidents and technical problems, and I also hope that the spectators will gain unforgettable experience!"
