Hungarian Szalay-Team now speeding on Pirelli Tyres

The Szalay Dakar Team - entered Dakar Rally 8 times and made it to the finish 4 times - will use the tires of Pirelli in the future, both on national and international competitions. The agreement between the team and the tire manufacturers are set for the 2006-2007 season, including the world's longest Desert challenge, the Dakar Rally, starting from Lisbon on the 6th of January.

Balázs Szalay used Pirelli's Endurance type tires at one test and a championship run. The tires are made specifically for field rally competitions, so they aced the test.

"With the new Pirellis we became richer by experience on the very first test already, not to mention that on the fast and rocky stages of the last competition we were faster with these than with the ones used before" - Balázs Szalay said. "I am extremely happy for this co-operation, concerning not just the car but the truck, too. Our MAN race truck had been using the Pirelli tires in the desert last year, and I can honestly say; they worked out 100%."

The team is to take the Pirelli tires to competition at the Hungarian Baja (18-20th of Aug.), and at the end of September will try them on the World Cup Championship in the desert of Egypt.
