Indian Arc: Day 2 of the Indian Auto Rickshaw Challenge

The participants seem to have outdone each other today. It was a whole new day of fun and excitement as they rode their rickshaws from Mahabalipuram to Pondicherry. Though it was a hot and humid weather they enjoyed the ride visiting historical places and solving the challenge tasks, "It was good fun as we got to see the places in a totally different way- it was an opportunity we would have missed in an ordinary trip".

It was a relatively short ride of about 100 km. As the auto rickshaws can’t exceed 50 kms/hour, they got to see the country- the small villages and the people there. The highlight of the day was Tamil devils crashing their rickshaws onto the Riksa Miksa’s rickshaw. However, it ended up as an adventure episode instead of an accident. The participants sure are well entertained in this splendid quest.

The Challenge tasks in the day’s itinerary made the day more enthralling for the adventure seekers- as they sought out every task and went about solving them. It indeed seems to add spice to their journey and their sight seeing expeditions. On the way to Pondicherry they stopped at Dutch Fortress, Alambarai Fort. Compulsory tasks of filling petrol is added in each day’s itinerary on their way to avoid rickshaws getting stranded without petrol.

The flag down was at Mukti Dadha Foundation after everyone arrived. The Organisation helps physically challenged people. After the participants took a tour around the place they proceeded to station their auto rickshaws at Hotel Jayaram, Pondicherry.

An evening of sight seeing and drinks followed- Those who wanted rest stayed back and the others went about the city marveling in it’s French architecture and the distant culture.

The ride was covered by the media from Mahabalipuram to Podicherry. Media coverage throughout the ride heightened the participant’s excitement. The ride was covered n detaily by many national dailies, magazines and TV channels. The day was a perfect tapestry of an adventure tourist’s dream!
