 | Italian Baja: 88 teams to start at FIA-season opener this weekend in Italy.

 The "Italian Baja", opener of the new 2012 FIM Baja World Cup for bikes and FIA World Cup for cars, will begin today and go on until Sunday at the Pordenone Fair, headquarter of the race.
Administrative checks and technical controls take place Thursday and today in Pordenone/Italy. At 4:00 p.m. lined up participants will leave the Fair to reach the industrial zone of Zoppola; the Super Special Stage "Meduna" (11 km long), which is supposed to start here at 4:25 p.m., will define the first cars and trucks’ rank and Saturday’s starting order as regards bikes and quads.
"We have made a great team-work and we are now looking forward to beginnig the race, in order to let stress decrease" confesses Mauro Tavella, the boss of the Fuoristrada Club 4x4 and race’s organizer. This year the clerk of the course will be Gianluca Marotta from Rieti, already used to this kind of competition, as last year he was the responsible at the Pharaons Rally in Egypt.
As regards bikes and quads, the Italian Baja represents the opening race of the brand new FIM Bajas World Cup and the clerk of the course will be Alessandro Moro from Pordenone, who recently got an International licence.
The entry list includes 88 participants, divided in 47 teams as for the FIA competition (T1, T2 and T3 categories), 3 trucks (T4), 12 teams for the National Trophy (TH), 8 for the Suzuki Challenge (T2), 10 bikes and 8 quads. Weather forecast assures clear sky until the prize giving ceremony, which will be held on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Fair Pavilions.
