 | Italian Baja: Double World Championship for Italian Baja - 15-18th March 12.

Good news for the fans of the "Italian Baja": The double World Championship FIA/FIM is not to be considered just a Christmas gift, as this result was the aim of the organiser "Fuoristrada Club 4x4 Pordenone" since many years ago.
The Pordenone race, valid for the Fia World Cross Country Rallies, will become in 2012 a World competition also for bikes and quads, as the FIM already launched for them a proper Baja World Championship.
It will be the Italian Baja which will lead the whole Championship, before the races in Spain, Hungary, Portugal and Qatar. Antonio Assirelli, who co-ordinates the Motorally and Quad Committee, wishes to remark the FIM satisfaction regarding the Fmi decision.
"This was a project we hardly worked for, since many years ago. We already realized that the new version of the race is creating a big interest in Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Czech Republic and in all other Countries where bikers are particularly fond of Cross Country Rallies. What we need to do now is to develop the same interest in our Country" Assirelli said.
The 2012 Italian Baja will start in about three months (from 15th to 18th March) and the double World meaning of the race is an incredible incentive to improve each detail of the event.
"The Fuoristrada Club already began to organize next year’s event on 21st March 2011, that’s to say just one day after the competition’s end" explains Mauro Tavella from the organisation. "As we perfectly know we cannot lose our time if we want to offer a perfect organization with attended details. Departure and arrival locations will be a big surprise, as well as all other entertainment events and Media involving in the race."
He added: "The route, on the other hand, will be the same, offering a race developed through the traditional area between Zoppola and San Giorgio della Richinvelda, crossing the riverbeds of the Cosa torrent and the Tagliamento river near the towns of Spilimbergo, Valvasone and San Vito al Tagliamento. We are supposed to get a lot of entries this year also for bikes and quads, to celebrate a real World Festival."
