 | 20th Italian Baja: Quad baja-winner Montico will support talented bikers
|

 | | | Angelo Montico didn’t give up yet, although since a couple of years he decided not to take part in any race "because of weight reasons". He loves to joke with his body, in fact the Magredi Giant looks like a smiling, affable guy.
Without any doubt he would still be able to ride a quad and face his challengers without any difficulty, as he did in fact in 2001 and 2003; anyway he chose another job, preferring to be nowadays a bikers manager. His fierce is now at disposal of Alberto Basso and Alessandro Ruoso, two talented bikers who will play a starring role at the Italian Baja.
Basso, who will ride a Suzuki this year, doesn’t need any introduction: He is still considered the favored biker. Ruoso (the younger brother of the rally driver Giuliano) has a good chance, "we’ll see what he will be able to do with his Yamaha".
Compared to the race proposed ten years ago, what are the biggest differences in the nowadays race? "From 2001 to 2003 the Italian Baja reached its moment of greatest glory, all best Cross Country riders came here to face the track along the Cellina-Meduna, as the route was particularly dazzling and technical."
"Conditions changed and the track offered now both by the Cosa torrent and the Tagliamento river doesn’t seem to be so hard and selective as it was; even the agonistic spirit is limited by the economic crisis. What still remains is the great involvement of the Fuoristrada Club 4x4 Pordenone, which every years proposes a highlight race."
