Italian Baja: The world´s Semi-Elite is meeting again in Italy.

Boris Gadasin, the Russian winner of the 2007 Italian Baja, is one of the first entries at the Italian Baja 2008. A lot of foreign crews have already entered, and the first Italian pilot is Paolo Mora from Parma. Gadasin will be competing again with a Nissan Pickup together again with his Codriver Aleksandr Mironenko - but it is still open in which Nissan the Russian will start - at the Northern Forest Baja in St. Petersburg he retired from the race with technical problems, at the Hail Saudi Baja he started with an Belgian Overdrive Nissan.

This is an important confirmation for the Italian race, that is having large international entries. First entries came from all over Europe: From Hungary will start the Eastern-Europe ASO-representative Balazs Szalay with his Opel Antara RR, the regional celebrity Laszlo Palik (Nissan Navara), Imre Varga (Nissan Pickup) and Lukacs Andrai (Gaba Proto). From Poland comes Bowler-Pilot Piotr Beaupre, from the Czech Republic the "marathonrally.com supported"-Team Miroslav Zapletal and Miroslav Janacek (Mitsubishi L200 Strakar), from Belgium signed Jost van Cauwenberghe (Bowler Nemesis) and Vicents Thijs (Mitsubishi) and from Spain Luis Climent (Toyota Proto).

Also from Germany competitors will start. Tino Schmidt "rides" the Mitsubishi Pajero, which formally was rebuilt for the German "Rallylady" Ellen Lohr and her participation at the Dakar Rally 2008, and the Cologne-based Team "Matzker" with Team-leader Amadeus Matzker driving his special developed Land Rover Defender 110 Md5r. Paolo Mora (from Parma) is the first entered Italian with his Mitsubishi L200 Evo. And this is only the excellent start of a list of competitors - which will grow up until the closing of the Entries at March 5th.

The appointment of the International Cup for Cross Country Bajas is of great interest for Rallyraid-fans of all over the world. This Sport needs enthusiasm and freedom spaces, inside a well organized contest, reliable and competent, just like the Italian Baja’s. The European Baja has already reached its 15th edition in Pordenone, overcoming doubts and difficulties, that never damaged their soul, instead strengthening the pride of the organisers for being part of Pordenone Off-Road Club 4x4, that celebrates this year the 25th anniversary of its foundation.

News about the track must be "top secret" at the moment. Anyway the organisers are doing their best to satisfy the "cross country baja formula": Fast ,speedy and yet challenging tracks with the total of hundreds of kilometers to be run. In 2008 the Italian Baja is not only for cars. The 2008 Baja will see motorcycles and quads that shall certainly give the race emotions and a great spectacle in an open and fascinating landscape.

For all competitors, the appointment is fix on Thursday March 13th at "Dream Village" in Cordenons (North Italy) for the administrative checking and the protagonists of the race ambitious to see finally the chequered flag.
