Jutta Kleinschmidt joins the BMW X-Raid Team.

The X-raid team and Jutta Kleinschmidt will join on their hunt for victories. Team owner Sven Quandt cheers the deal. "In very positive talks we agreed very quickly on Jutta Kleinschmidt to enforce our team. I think we will gain tremendous power and are looking forward to start our joint work. The way we took two years ago proves to be target-oriented and we work every day to get more successful."

Dakar 2001 winner Jutta Kleinschmidt is very confident about her new challenge: "To drive the X-raid BMW X3CC is a great thing because the last year´s Dakar has already shown how good the car is. I am convinced that we are able to achieve a great deal and I am impressed about the enthusiasm Sven Quandt puts into this project. We know each other already some time, because my first drive in a car at the Dakar Rally was with a Mitsubishi of it"s team at that time, GeCo-Raid."

The collaboration with Kleinschmidt is a further milestone for the X-raid team founded in 2000. The joint development of the BMW X3CC with Magna Steyr and BMW Motors meant a trend-setting step for the Dakar 2006. By contracting Jutta Kleinschmidt, Raid-Sport consistently continues the way taken two years ago heading for world class leadership.

16 times Dakar participant Kleinschmidt will soon complete test drives with the X-raid BMW X3CC. The X-raid team is already intensively preparing for Dakar 2007 with a tight development programme. Sven Quandt expects from the desert lady"s experiences improvements in the technology branch. "Jutta will be strongly involved in the development of the BMW X3CC. We got quite far with the details and with her driving experience and her technical know-how we will get important hints."

Sven Quandt already signed the proven drivers Nasser Al-Attiyah from Qatar and Guerlain Chicherit from France. Al-Attiyah had to drop out at the 10th stage of Dakar 2006 but could demonstrate a solid performance at previous highlights. Newbie Chicherit qualified for the team with a smart drive and a 9th place at the Dakar 2006. Sven Quandt: "We found the perfect mixture with our choice of drivers. Nasser Al-Attiyah is a well experienced, spirited and fast man, Guerlain Chicherit is promising and well calculating - I guess he will achieve good results in the near future, and Jutta Kleinschmidt combines all abilities to being a top driver. We have high expectations on this crew and look forward to the coming challenges."

The engagement with the BMW X3CC of the X-raid team leads Jutta Kleinschmidt back to her Bavarian roots. "I grew up in Bavaria (Berchtesgaden/Germany), made my diploma at BMW in Munich and worked for six years in the BMW vehicle development department. I raced my first Dakar in 1988 on a BMW motorbike and worked from 1992 until 2001 as an instructor at BMW driving trainings. You always meet twice in your life and now the wheel comes full circle for BMW and me."
