|Lennson CC: New rally raid kit-car based on Mercedes G from Germany.|
A Bowler from Germany? Not really, the constructor of the new "Lennson CC" said it’s the German answer to the Bowler. The "Lennson CC" is a tubular chassis with 90% Mercedes production parts and can be used for FIA sectioned events as well for amateur sport.
This is not the future, this is reality, two of those vehicles are nearly completed and the planning is to start at the BAJA SAXONIA coming May. The construction of the third vehicle already started.
LeTech does the design and construction of the "Lennson CC". LeTech owner Andreas Lennartz is the former ORC-designer and developed different ORC rally raid vehicles as well as the Mercedes ML EVO.
Most important of this rally raid kit-car is that most of the parts can be bought at the Mercedes dealership, because the customers don’t have to buy a complete car but can buy a rolling chassis as well or everything in between. Another advantage is that replacement of the spare parts can be bought as well at the Mercedes dealership. And the reliability of the Mercedes spare parts is proven the last decades.
On the tubular chassis of the "Lennson CC" you find the necessary serial mounting points of the Mercedes G500/G55 (model year 1997-2000). This all was possible due to the fact that different serial frames were digitalized. This means that the engine, gearbox, steering, differential, tank, brake booster, pedal box, etc. can be directly fitted to the tubular chassis of the "Lennson CC".
"The vehicle can be assembled by everybody and will be supported by LeTech," says Andreas Lennartz.
Big changes you can find at the suspension and weight of the vehicle. The suspension is designed with 4 trailing arms which hold the straight axle (front and rear) and eliminates the Panhard rod for more stability at high speed off road racing.
To keep the tires of the 1650 kg (controlled by regulations) "Lennson CC" on the ground, 4GRIP 2.5 internal bypass shocks from Holland are installed with a dual rate Eibach coil spring. The "Lennson CC" does have between 350 mm and 250 mm of suspension travel depending the regulations. Maximum speed is regulated at 180 km/h.
Interesting is the pricing: The basic "Lennson CC KIT A" is a painted rolling chassis, complete with shocks and coil springs, different body parts for Euro 39.500 (ex. VAT)
"We are happy to have the first 2 customers which are no strangers to the Germany rally raid scene," says Andreas Lennartz proudly. Firstly we do have "Germany Champions" Frank and Stephan Stensky and secondly the gastronome from München Oliver Koepp. Planning is to start the BAJA SAXONIA in May 2010.
