Libya Desert Challenge: Oliver Koepp wins Libyan Rally.

The German music-club owner Oliver Koepp and his co-driver Christian Janke wins the 2nd Libya Desert Challenge rally in front of the German Ex-Mitsubishi-Workdriver Andrea Mayer in a KOS Kumho Buggy and Matthias Kruger/Peter Muhmel in a Nissan Terrano I.

Yesterday the participants had to fight again on a hard long stage. Andrea Mayer, which lost many time after a penalty, gave her best because a overall win was still able. But she made mistakes in navigation and lost time again. So the Munich Oliver Koepp took the chance and powered his Mercedes G on position one - so he could start as first today. For main-sponsor Kumho Tires the result is a double-win - both teams drove with tires from the Korean manufacturer.

The weather was good and hot the last days, the stages hard and full of mistery, high dunes. "Wonderful routes" said overall-winner Koepp, "i´ve never seen such amazing rallytracks". As Andrea Mayer Koepp is also no amateur-driver. With a special prepared T1-Mercedes G Koepp won the El Chott Tunisian Rally and made good results at FIA Worldcup rallies like the UAE Desert Challenge in Dubai. In 2007 Oliver Koepp plans to drive the legendary Dakar-Rally - with an own build T1 Mercedes G Pickup, inspired by the T1 Navara-Pickups from the Nissan Work-Teams.

Tomorrow all competitors, service-crews and organizers will go back to Tunisia to have a big winner-party - in Libya alcohol is strictly forbidden...
