|Merzouga Rally: Countdown has started for the October Morocco Rally.|
The Organization machine is ready for the 4th edition of the Merzouga rally that this year can count on more than 100 riders enrolled in the bike, quad and SSV categories.
Several factory crews have chosen the rally promoted by Edo Mossi for the final test of their bikes and riders in preparation of the Dakar Rally 2013. On the 20th of October there will be at the start the HRC Honda Team with Helder Rodrigues and Sam Sunderland, the HRC Speedbrain Team with Paulo Goncalves, the Yamaha Team with Olivier Pain and Frans Verhoeven and the complete GAS GAS line up with Jordi Viladoms, Gerard Farres, Marc Guash and Dani Oliveras.
Twelve crews will be at the starting blocks for the SSV category. The Team Los Amigos will challenge the Xtreme Plus Team and the Spaniard of Club Deportivo Delfi on the big dunes of the Erg Chebi.
In total the riders will cover 1,250 km, with a 120 km warm up to allow the competitors to gain confidence with the variety of the Sub-Saharan terrains. A marathon stage with a tented camp in the desert is scheduled on the third day, while the Grand Prix of the Dunes will take place on the last day.
The Merzouga Rally will be the third and final round of the Rally Pro Series, the championship promoted by Edo Mossi with a final prize of 7.500€ for the Rally and 7.500€ for the Rally Lite Category.
Jordi Viladoms, the winner of the Serres Rally, second round of the Rally Pro Series, will take the start of the Merzouga Rally with the number 1, followed by Frans Verhoeven and Henk Knuiman.
Sandro Calesini and Alessandro Fadda, respectively first and second at the XRally, opening round of the RPS, had to withdrawn because injured in the Serres. At the start there will be François Charliat, third at the Xrally, with the Gas Gas Maroc Team.
