New Zealand Rallyfeste Celebrations move to Hamilton City.

Dunlop Rallyfeste organisers move their celebration in to the city, to utilise Hamilton's Waikato Event's Centre complex at Claudeland's. Rallyfeste chairman Laurie Brenssell said "We have received excellent support from the Mayor and City of Hamilton, and are impressed by their positive attitude towards Motorsport. Moving the event to the city will be a bonus, with benefits for both parties".

The Waikato Event's Centre venue, will be used to house the entire Rallyfeste Weekend, (March 23rd - 25th 2007) right from the scrutineering of the cars before the rally event, a Rally Show for the public, all the way through to the celebration dinner marking four decades of Rallying in New Zealand.

The Rallyfeste weekend's celebrations will commence on Friday evening with a parade of the Rally Cars thru the main street of Hamilton. The parade will lead its way to the Waikato Events Centre, where a spectacular Rally Show will be set up right inside the main pavilion.

The Rally Show will be open to the public who will be able to view live, the rally cars being serviced, along with their teams, event sponsors, trade stalls and various other rally promotions. On the upper level and able to overlook the whole show, Rallyfeste entrants will gather for their welcome function.

On Saturday a competitive rally event will take entrants out of the city where they will tackle a number of high speed special stages, on closed public roads to the south of the Hamilton. The Rally event will feature both gravel and tarmac sections with options for entrants to compete in either or both, meaning that every Rallying competitor is catered for.

The final part of the Dunlop Rallyfeste will be a celebration "function", which will take the format of an informal dinner on Saturday night following the Rally "event" back at the Hamilton Event's Centre, and will feature representative era displays of competition cars and memorabilia from each of the past four decades.

The Dunlop Rallyfeste has drawn enthusiastic support from the enthusiasts past and present, including the Motorsport New Zealand executive. Motorsport New Zealand President Steven Kennedy, commented "Rallying does have a history now and it is timely to celebrate and recognise it with a weekend such as this. With a vision to the future of rallying, any profits arising from the Rallyfeste weekend will be donated to the Motorsport New Zealand Rally Scholarship Trust."

Rallyfeste organisers are looking to attract competitors, enthusiasts and officials from the all of the past four decades, and ask that they register early and keep up to date with the planning and details for the celebration events.
