 | Northern Forest 2010: Nissan-Overdrive excuses for false Air-Restrictor.
|

 | | | The Belgian Rally-Team Nissan Overdrive was confused after FIA´s descision, to exclude the Polish Kristof Holowczyc from the "Northern Forest Baja Russia 2010". "We learned this weekend that our car, after winning the recent Baja Russia Northern Forest, has been disqualified from the event's final results" the Team said.
The technical department of the FIA found the diameter of the air intake restrictor to be 33.52mm, whereas the regulations specify a maximum permissible diameter of 33mm. "We sincerely regret this mistake, which was due to a machining error by our supply, and would like to extend our apologies to all those (driver, mechanics and sponsors) who contributed to our performance in Russia."
With the facts now established, Overdrive does not intend to appeal this decision. The team would nonetheless like to make two observations:
- This error was totally involuntary and the power gain resulting from it was practically zero.
- The regulations stipulate no fewer than four different air-intake restrictor diameters as a function of the event, championship, year of manufacture and driver priority status
"It is interesting to note that the entrants who finished in first and second positions on the Baja Russia were disqualified as a result of infringements to the air-intake restrictor regulations. In accordance with usual practices, these two entrants were the only ones to undergo post-event scrutineering" Overdrive told.
