 | Northern Forest: First stage win for Boris Gadasin and G-Force in SS3.
|
Krzystof Holowczyc feels quite comfortable in first place as Boris Gadasin lost a lot of time on SS2. But nevertheless the crews are still pushing for victory. The struggle for the lead is still fierce as Boris clawed back 9 seconds from the Polish driver, who finished as second in SS3. Third place went to Alexander Zheludov, who is still leading the Russian Championship, although he was almost three minutes down on Gadasin.
Alexander Mironenko and Yaroslav Solovjev were 5th and 6th followed by Pavel Loginov and Arthur Murashkin. The leader of Group R, Aldis Vilcãns was 9th and Balasz Szalay closed the Top 10.
It's an interesting struggle in Group T2. Alexander Oleynikov closed the gap to the class leader Alexey Yaskov to just 5 seconds. Nuno Matos came in 4th while Artem Varentsov, the reigning World Cup and FIA Cup holder, managed only 6th place as he got stuck in a snowdrift because of technical problems. Italian Riccardo Garosci had many adventures today - a broken turbo, a puncture and they also had to tow a crashed car out of the road before he could continue. Tomorrow he promises to speed up.
There were no such worries for Yury Borovikov in Group N - he won the second stage and extended his lead in the class. His nearest competitor, Bogdan Vavrenjuk was almost four minutes slower. Another favorite for the National Championship Benjamin Dzhepaev was only 5th because of technical problems.
Tomorrow the participants will tackle three special stages with a total of 257km. The weather forecast is snow but temperatures similar to today... ideal conditions for the final day of Russia Northern Forest 2010.
