 | Northern Forest: Last fights on SS6 - Gadasin Stagewin, Holowczyc overall.
|
The route of SS6 was divided into six parts and six Checkpoints and it was a "Last Battle" between the Polish Nissan-Pilot Kristof Holowczyc and the FIA Worldcup Winner Boris Gadasin (Nissan/G-Force Proto). To become a silver medal holder of the Baja Boris Gadasin had to take back 3 minutes and 44 seconds.
At CP5 Gadasin had 3 minutes and 31 seconds advantage over Alexander Zheludov. But a phone call from the finish: "Gadasin has finished without the left front tyre..." As it turned out later it was slow puncture and they had to finish on a disk.
Of course, it's impossible to continue struggle on three wheels but even on a "lame" car Gadasin managed to win SS6. Holowczyc finished the Stage 2nd, 38 minutes behind Gadasin. Alexander Zheludov was third on the SS, 2:13 minutes behind his competitor. And he is a silver medal holder of the competition!
Ukrainian Bogdan Novitsky finished 4th on this SS followed by Alexander Mironenko and Yaroslav Solovjev. The Hungarian Balazs Szalay (Opel Antara RR) was 7th, the leader of the Group R Aldis Vilcans was 8th. Alexander Oleynikov and Alexey Yaskov, the participants of Group T2, closed the Top 10.
In the Production category the struggle was as strong as in the International overall. Yaskov and Oleynikov tried to push down the leader of the category - Viktor Volikov. But he lost not a lot - half of a minute - and kept his position by the Baja results. And in T2 Nuno Matos who participated for the first time on snow and ice surface finished 3rd.
Having lost a lot of time on SS5 the leader of the National category Yury Borovikov covered the gap at once. He won SS6 having 2 minute advantage over Bogdan Vavrenjuk! Benjamin Dzhepaev was 3rd on this SS - so the Top 3 of SS6 was absolutely the same as the Top 3 of the competition.
The winners of the last SS in the Russian Championship were Boris Gadasin, Alexander Zheludov and Bogdan Novitsky. Zheludov, Gadasin and Alexander Mironenko are the prize winners of the Baja "Russia - Northern Forest 2010"
And as for the Latvian Championship on SS6 Gadasin, Novitsky and the only Latvian crew on the Baja - Aldis Vilcans/Dayra Vilcane - were in the Top 3. And they were the prize winners of the Baja.
This review could be finished by the words of Balazs Szalay who participated for the first time in the rally on snow and ice surface: "Very beautiful! I liked snow rally so much!"
