|Northern Forest: Quotes after SS2 - "Too much snow - but is´s great!".|
The snow is already heavy this year in the Forests of North-Western Russia. The competitors are still fighting and told there highlights after SS2. The Hungarian Balacz Szalay (Opel Antara RR) was too fast, slipped out of the road at lost a lot of time to get out. The leading polish driver Kristof Holowczyc (Nissan Navara Overdrive) said "the road is hard, ometimes difficulties arise, but we have done all possible."
The italian driver an Politican Garosci had problems with the Turbo of his Mitsubishi Pajero, then a tire blowed. After changing the wheel in front of the Italians another participant slipped off the road, the Pajero-Crew pulled them out and lost massive time again. The Portuguesian Isuzu-Driver Nuno Matos is driving well and happy: "It's beautiful around here, breath-taking. This rally is quite different from any other rallies I have seen."
The Russian crews, some of them more experienced in the snow, talked about the heavy road: "Very interesting rally! Unfortunately we were seeded after "production". Three times were standing still in the forest, many blockages. And the route is fast, perfect" told the local driver Loginov. Russian driver Yaskov said: "Excellent route! But there are nuances - too much snow and we have to drive much."
But also first problems: The Teams Chednikov, Varentsov and some other went "off the track", Team Dzhepaev arrived with open hood, "the cooling fluid is pressed out" the driver told.
Overall, the Rally has just begun and one thing is clear: "All is white" like the Russian competitor Bataev said.
