 | OiLibya Rally of Tunisia: Eric Vigouroux and Ales Winocq looking for a podium.
|
After a year of absence, Eric Vigouroux comes back to the African trails with his Trophy Truck and co-driver, Alex Winocq, to take this rally of Tunisia with serious ambitions. "My last participation in this race was in Tunisia 2009" says Eric. "Then, I took the decision of not doing the "South-America-Dakar" 2010, hoping to be able to run for Robby Gordon for the second time. Unhappily, the agreement with Gordon was made only on December 27th, and I already was engaged with my family."
For this Rally of Tunisia, Eric will run on his Chevrolet Trophy Truck for the last time while he prepares his new car, which is now under construction in the US. "All knowledge I have acquired along with the experience in the Pro-Trucks, my Trophy Truck and Gordon`s Hummer will be applied to this vehicle. Normally, we will be at the start of the "South-America-Dakar" 2011 if all tests go well."
Last year, their race in Tunisia was slowed down because of alternator problems, which didn´t push the crew away from a stage victory while finishing the competition in the 7th position. This year they hope to repeat the exciting performance of 2008, when they achieved the 2nd place of the podium. "The car has been completely revised in the U.S., and we have applied some improvements that should allow us to fight for top positions."
For the fifth consecutive year, Toyo Tires supports Eric Vigouroux. "Toyo Tires will be our main partner this year; the car has been re-done with their colors, obviously with the emblematic presence of Chevrolet. We will profit from Tunisia´s Rally to test different tires from Toyo, which will also help our project. The different kinds of ground inTunisia are really great to test them, and that will give another dimension to our race."
In order to give the necessary assistance service to Eric Vigouroux Racing ´s Trophy Truck, a team will be composed by four people, two Americans (one of them Larry Foodrill, the developer of the car) and two French mechanics, a Kerax 6x6 truck and a 4wheel drive will be at the bivouac each day working to accomplish the best result.
While the new EVR website is under construction, Toyo Tires will keep you updated during the rally through a blog dedicated to EVR´s race in the Rally of Tunisia.
