Oman Desert Express: Just 4 days to go before the start.

This coming 24th February, around thirty 4x4 vehicles will come to the line at the foot of the dunes in the heart of the Omani desert for the start of the all new rally-raid "The Oman Desert express Quest". In an explosion of sand, the teams of two vehicles each will embark upon 8 days of intense racing and adventure.
Each and everyone of these off-road fanatics will be focusing on the same, singular objective: Get to the finishing line with the lowest mileage possible on the clock, having checked in at all the obligatory waypoints. A number of constraints also need to be met: Only race between 8h00 and 16h30, only use the map of the Sultanate of Oman and the GPS provided by the organisation, bivouac on the exact spot where they stop at 16h30 and all this in complete autonomy with little or no support. After all, adventure has to be adventurous.
"The teams are really serious about how difficult this race is going to be" commented Jean-Louis Dronne, Sporting Director of The Oman Desert express Quest. "And they are right to do so because this course will not doubt cause a few surprises. Well over half of them are racing to win! That’s a clear indication of the competitive spirit that will govern this race.
The Oman Desert express Quest goes international. 15 teams from Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia will join those from France, Belgium and the Middle East on this fabulous human and sporting adventure.
