Optic Tunisia: Team Nissan Dessoude´s Stage report.

The (english) press-informations from the French Nissan Dessoude Team needs one day longer, so today we could only report about the Dessoude-News from the first stage. Within the Dessoude Team, the Nissan driven by Polish driver Krzysztof Holowczyc and the Pathfinder of Christian Lavieille responded perfectly to tuesday´s challenge, and both put in a careful stage.

"We were setting a good pace, but at the 80-km mark, I preferred to stop to check that one of the wheels was properly fastened" said Krzysztof Holowczyc, the European Rally Champion in 1997. "We lost two or three minutes, no more. The start of the session suited me perfectly, quite windy and technical, but I found the second part rather boring. The race is only just starting".

According to Jean Marc Fortin, Krzysztof’s navigator, the day was a good learning experience, after which they were placed in 7th position: "The start was quite fun, and I think that Krzysztof enjoyed himself, but on the rough stuff, Schlesser caught up with us at the 150 km point. It was really difficult to follow on that sort of terrain. As far as the Pickup is concerned, nothing to note" said Fortin.

Team-Director André Dessoude was pleased with this first day: "I am happy to see that our two drivers have shown plenty of maturity today. Krzysztof set a good pace while Christian opted for prudence. That is exactly what I expected from them at this stage of the race. In T2, Christian is two minutes behind Jean Pierre Strugo. It is an ideal position for tomorrow. The two cars are in perfect condition and have not suffered at all today. I hope that the whole week will go like this."
