Optic Tunisia: The Comeback of the Chevrolet Trophy Truck.

Recording the third fastest time on todays special, from EL Borma to Nekrif, Eric Vigouroux wiped the slate clean following the deception yesterday.Overall ,the Chevrolet Trophy Truck climbed up eight places in one day, finishing tenth at end of the day.

Satisfied with his day, "I was the first day where we didn´t have any problems. We didn't even get lost and we managed the difficult dunes at the start easy enough. We found a solution for the transmission. We just seperated the gearbox from the transmission," explains Eric.

With the problems at Dakar and those at El Borma, it has helped pin point the problem. The solution, a seperation made of aluminium recovered with heat reflector, seems to have done the trick. "Of course I´m dissappointed that we haven´t managed to keep our third place, but this Optic 2000 Tunisian Rally has turned out positive in terms of preperation for Dakar 2008," adds Eric.

"I take my hat off to our three mechanics who worked all night on the Trophy Truck, to install the heat seperation screen. They even had to drop the gearbox and they went to bed at about five in the morning! A big thanks to our partners, Toyo Tires, for their tyres, not a problem whatsoever."

With three days racing left, the Chevrolet Trophy Truck could continue its climb up the ladder, all will be decided when the finish line will be crossed at Tozeur Sunday afternoon. One thing is for sure, with two third best times, the potential of the Chevrolet Trophy Truck is being confirmed every step of the way.
