Optic 2000 Tunisia 2007 Special-Newssection (FIM Cross Country Worldcup)

Optic Tunisia: What they said after Leg 3 Douz-El Borma.

Jean-Louis Schlesser (France/Schlesser): "It was a classic. There was everything, soft sand , technical, navigation and fast track. Harder than a Dakar special. If they put the same caliber on the Dakar, half of the rally would be in problems. We’ve taken the lead, but we’ll have to watch it."

Christian Lavieille (France/Nissan Navara Proto): "We lost some time on the inflation, and the suspension, top speed need some more work. With this in mind, the twelve minutes lost today on this difficult special doesn’t sadden us. Remembering that it’s the first time in the desert for this car.

Paulo Nobre (Brasil/X-Raid BMW X3CC): "We got stuck in the sand for a good twenty minutes. Then we couldn’t go flat out because the engine temperatures went funny."

Marc Coma (Spain/KTM Repsol): "I had to double check twice my heading around 26km. After that it went well. It was a great special today and i felt good, but it is only the start of the rally."

David Casteu (France/KTM Gauloises): "I got lost at the start like everyone else, after 40km i wanted to turn around in a oued and i got the fornt stuck in upto the mudguard. It was harder than a Dakar."

Michel Marchini (France/Yamaha 450): "Fourth place ? Unhoped for. I don’t want to let it go to my head. Other than the Dakar, i haven’t done another Africain rally, so i went at my own speed because i’m here to learn. Today i realised that i still have a lot to learn."
