Optic 2000 Tunisia 2007 Special-Newssection (FIM Cross Country Worldcup)

Optic Tunisia: What they said after Leg 8 Matmata-Tozeur.

Jean-Louis Schlesser (France/Buggy Schlesser): "Firstly, i wanted to say that crossing the finish without the presence of Jean-Cristophe Pelletier was strange, i thought a lot about him today. This win is great. Firstly because of the fast pace all week, this being important for the progress of fine tuning. Also, because it will permit us to open new directions, both financier and technical. I’ve a meeting Monday with a constructor for, perhaps a new collaboration."

Christian Lavieille (France/Nissan Navara Proto): "For us, we’ve done better than we hoped. Always hoping for a podium, we’ve managed it at the end of a productive rally, where we can see the potential that is still to be honed out of this new car."

Pascal Thomasse (France/Nissan Buggy): "Our goal at the start of this last special was to take the third podium position, whatever. After 30km we saw Isabelle Patissier’s Buggy, at 50km we were on her bumper. My co-pilot told me to follow her, but idecided to go in front being better than her on the windy tracks, i am very satisfied with this rally’s outcome."

Marc Coma (Spain/KTM Repsol): "I am especially happy to win the Optic 2000 Tunisia rally because it was the only one that had eluded me. After falling on the Dakar, what better way to come back to the World Championship. My love for bikes, competition and Africa have all been good motives."

David Casteu (France/KTM Gauloises): "Even if i’m not happy with always finishing second, this rally has really shown me exactly where my flaws in navigation are. Don’t tell anyone but i’ve kept the road-book so i can come back and practise."

Michel Marchini (France/Yamaha 450): "This morning i was so nervous that i made mistake after mistake at the start of the special. At the petrol i managed to calm myself down and restart determined to concentrate on my navigation and not the little noises coming from the bike. This podium is a great recompense and i’m extremely proud."
