Orpi Maroc: Interviews Leg 3 Ain Benimathar-Erfoud

| |
| Cars Category
Carlos Sainz (VW Race Touareg II) : "In the first special we caught up with Peterhansel after 80kms but the dust prevented us from getting close enough to press on the Sentinel and go past. All in all it's not bad but we're all still pretty much neck and neck for the moment."
Stephane Peterhansel (Mitsubishi Pajero) : "Nothing spectacular today, I'm afraid. We did the same kind of performance as Giniel, but Carlos got the better of both us. The VWs seem to be obviously superior to our cars on this kind of terrain. And as our engines get weaker at higher altitudes it's going to be really hard to beat them in the mountains."
Giniel de Villiers (VW Race Touareg II) : "There are always a lot of expensive hesitations when you're the opener, so I think we really did a great job getting such a good time today. We're only half-way through the rally and a lot of things can still happen. Actually, I'm quite pleased not to be leaving in front tomorrow."
Jean-Louis Schlesser (Buggy Ford) : "Another miss! We were ahead of the others at the second special's CP but didn't have the four wheel drives' boost to hold on and be first at the finish."
Motobikes Category
Isidre Esteve (KTM Gauloises) : "After the first two day's troubles it's nice to win this stage. And honestly I think it was the most exciting one we've had since the start of the event, it was tremendously varied. Pure bliss!"
Marc Coma (KTM Repsol) : "I knew I could earn a bit of extra time in the second special. I went flat out. There are three days left so it's far from being over, but I'm very pleased with the bike –and I feel really calm."
Cyril Despres (KTM Gauloises) : "I can feel all my senses coming back. I spent 3 hours and a half on the road book yesterday evening - I knew there were going to be plenty of traps. I stayed really concentrated for the whole of the first special. I had great fun and it's good to be testing the new bike in real racing conditions. This is precisely what I came here for!"
David Casteu (KTM Gauloises) : "The whole of my dashboard fell off, the same as on the Dakar. I had to finish the first special going slowly and then I managed to do a quick fix by taking some screws off the reservoir."
