Orpi Maroc: Interviews Leg 4 Erfoud - Zagora

What they said - Cars Category:

Jean-Louis Schlesser (Ford Buggy): "That was a good one, I'll say! I've just gone to thank Peterhansel for being my pacemaker, but I truly owe this victory to my mechanics. They did a fabulous job. We were so close to winning so many times since the start of the rally. It was in the last crusty bit that we made a difference. Anyway, it shows the Mitsubishis aren't so bad at picking up speed!"

Stephane Peterhansel (Mitsubishi Pajero): "I went flat out this morning despite my stomach upset yesterday. My head hurt quite a bit but you can't just sit there twiddling your fingers if you want to get past Giniel! We've caught up a bit today - it's not enough yet but it's encouraging. We're going to press hard in the last two more specials. And they're more technical!"

Giniel de Villiers (VW Race Touareg II): "After having overtaken Carlos we had to slow down to avoid taking too many risks. One thing's for certain: the Mitsubishis may have had a lower peak speed than us at the beginning of the rally but now that's no longer so!"

Carlos Sainz (VW Race Touareg II): "It's a shame about the puncture. One can't help it, when you open the race on such open expanses you waste time finding the way and the cars that follow you just need to aim straight for your dust cloud."

Nani Roma (Mitsubishi Pajero): "I'm really angry with myself. I was going at a good pace in the special and by wanting to go harder I hit a stone and had a puncture. What a stupid thing to do!"

What they said - Motobikes Category:

Marc Coma (KTM Repsol): "I caught up with Isidre just before refuelling. When I saw how much I'd gained on Despres, I decided to follow him just at his pace. He was a perfect opener!"

Isidre Esteve (KTM Gauloises): "There were traces in every direction. I did a lot of route-finding today and kept up a good speed. The stage was superb, very varied with lots of ups and downs towards the end!"

Cyril Despres (KTM Gauloises): "I got a bit lost this morning in a shott. But it was a beautiful special. It's different again from the first two days - a different kind of style. It can seem strange but I'm very pleased with what I did. I went fast. At refuelling, I saw how much I was behind but I decided to keep on at the same speed for the rest of the stage."

Francisco Lopez (Honda 450): "I decided not to take any risks today. What's more at the beginning of the stage the fuel reservoir was too far forwards and the bike wasn't properly balanced."
