Orpi Maroc: Interviews - Scrutineering - Erfoud.

| |
| What they said - Cars Category
Stéphane Peterhansel (Mitsubishi Pajero): "It's going to be really tough! The factory cars are all pretty much up to the same standards and the teams are really close. Five of us are aiming for the victory - six counting Jean-Louis Schlesser and his buggy, who could really cause us harm. We'll have to look out for punctures - we're imagining a much faster pace than on the Dakar."
Giniel de Villiers (VW Race Touareg II): "What a fight ahead of us! What's more the factory teams do know the area pretty well. But there are so many traps and the last few days of bad weather have added a lot, so I think that luck is probably going to be quite important in this race…"
Joan ‘Nani’ Roma (Mitsubishi Pajero): "I'm here to learn and tomorrow we'll see soon enough whether I can keep up with the head of the race ."
Carlos Sainz (VW Race Touareg II): "The Tunisian accident is behind me. I'm here to win and believe me, I'm going to go flat out tomorrow - the terrain suits me and I've already had fun on it on the last Dakar."
Jean-Louis Schlesser (Buggy Ford): "If we want to get anywhere on this race we're going to have to go very hard before the last two mountainous stages. So we'll be going at full throttle from the start!"
What they said - Motocycles Category
Marc Coma (KTM Repsol): "I'm particularly pleased to be back in Africa and what's more to be riding the new bike. It's lighter, more compact and much more manoeuvrable. It's really well-suited to a terrain like this."
Cyril Despres (KTM Gauloises): "Until last week-end I hadn't ridden in a competition since the Dakar. I took part in a race in Austria and it reassured me about my injuries. My shoulder doesn't hurt too much anymore and as for the tendonitis that is still cramping my right wrist, well, I just hope it doesn’t make trouble during the rally. I'm here above all for doing lots of miles on my new bike in a competition so as to prepare the Dakar as best I can. But it's quite clear that I'll be attacking as hard as I can and that I won't deny myself a victory if it is in my grasp."
Isidre Esteve (KTM Gauloises): "I regained confidence with the Tunisian victory. Now it's up to me to prove that I'm again in top form."
Laurent Lazard (KTM 450): "Never has the 450cc category been so hot. We're five riders and three different makes to be in contention for victory. It's promising to be a particularly hard fight."
