Panamericana: New world-record project in North- and South America.

The German offroad-specialist and world-record holder Matthias Jeschke together with the journalist Joerg Sand plans a new world-record: To drive the legendary "Panamericana Route" in North- and South America. In 2005 Jeschke set a new high altitude world record mark. On march, 4, at 16:00 h local time, the German reached the absolute high altitude world record for motor vehicles at 6358 meters on the Ojos del Salado in Chile on a Toyota Landcruiser.

To prove now the everyday practicability of this environmentally friendly energy source, the team will be the very first to use alternative fuel along the whole of the longest and most spectacular road in the world - the 27,000 kilometers of the Panamericana from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego. To provide all the more impressive evidence for the performance of biofuels combined with modern motor technology, we are planning a journey time of less than 16 days. The journey will be carried out with three vehicles and nine drivers, who will take turns at the wheel for scheduled five-hour intervals.

The idea behind the project is to give worldwide publicity to the use of fuels based on renewable raw materials. With the allied support of as many people as possible, Jeschke and Sand are aiming to draw the attention of energy users and energy providers to the enormous potential of energy from renewable raw materials.
