Pharaons 2006: Christian Lavieille take the lead in T2.

| |
| After the Tuesday´s problems, Team Nissan Aventure took the lead of the Production category on Wednesday and now has a lead of more than 42 minutes over its nearest rival. It was exactly the sort of day that Christian Lavieille enjoys, a technical route in near-lunar landscapes.
The second leg of the Pharaons Rally between Baharija and Dakhla was 438 km long and included extremely varied terrain. The sort of thing that delighted Christian Lavieille, who is particularly fond of technical stages through sumptuous scenery: "We drove well up to the CP2 point, and overtook a number of vehicles, including Laurent Rosso´s Pathfinder, which was leading the category yesterday. After that, we kept a good pace and took care not to get any punctures on the rocky sections. Tuesday´s problems have been solved, and the lead we have means that we can breathe a bit. But nothing is over yet, and we have to be very vigilant. We went through some breathtaking scenery, like being on the moon. This stage was really beautiful, and as far as the driving was concerned, a lot more interesting than yesterday."
Co-Pilot Arnaud Debron was smiling again, although he still had a small regret: "The stage was nice, not too short, not too long, just right. However, I feel there are too many GPS points? I dream of a real navigation stage, with no GPS points, just the road-book and the headings! It would be a lot more fun! However, the scenery was splendid, and very varied. As for Christian, he was perfect."
Teamchef André Dessoude was also satisfied with this day, which saw Christian "take command": "The engine cut-outs we had yesterday have been solved, and Christian recovered well today. It is precisely in those sort of circumstances that you really see a team´s abilities. I never doubted the quality of this exceptional duo. With a lead of 42 minutes, Christian now has to manage the race as best he can. I am not in the slightest worried, as managing races is a subject he has mastered to perfection."
