Pharaons 2006: X-Raid Pilot Jose-Luis Monterde to lead the Rally.

The Spaniard Jose Luis Monterde and his copilot Jean Marie Lurquin from the Team Tecnocastellón (BMW X-Raid X5), have become the new overall leaders of the Pharaons Rally, after today´s Victory in the third stage from Dahkla to Farafsa. "The today´s stage has been another difficult stage", said the Spaniard in the Camp. "The route was complicated, with very many fesh fesh and many drains. The sand was so soft that the car sank too much, but in general, we have been able to maintain a good rate the day. In addition, Jean Marie has been magnificent with navigation."

The different conditions today have allowed Monterde and Lurquin to locate themselves to the front of the general classification. "After the problems on the first day we are happy to control now the race. But there are still four stages left and at least two of them will be very hard and can afford some surprises. We will continue to be concentrated to the maximum".

The Brazilian Paulo Nobre, rear gunner of Monterde in the X-Raid Team, finalized today in second position, in front of the Russian Sergey Shmakov on place 3. "Paulo and Sergey go together trough the today´s stage, changing the positions several times. In the end Shmakov had some little problems and must stop shortly, so Paulo get in front of the Russian and could take his second position until the finish" reported Monterde.

The technicians of X-Raid have continued proving new technical potentialities in the car of Monterde. "They modified the settings of the suspension, after that the car jumped better and gave us more security in fast zones" said the Spaniard. "We will continue to test new constellations to prepare the car best as possible for the Dakar 2007."
