 | Pharaons 2010: A new bridge Venice-Alexandria for the Pharaons Rally.
|
An Italy-Egypt bridge: it’s not the case of a new pharaonic work, but it’s the new sea link which connects Venice with the Syrian port of Tartous and the Egyptian port of Alexandria, since last May.
"Visemar Line" with the new passengers and goods line has filled up a considerable vacancy and - in a natural way - the partnership with the Pharaons Rally is born. The new sea company has thus become the official carrier of the Pharaons Rally, this way siding EgyptAir, its historical partner.
The thirteenth edition of the JVD Rally will change its vehicles embarkation port from Genova to Venice and this is an extremely important novelty for the Pharaons. The new link infact guarantees quite short timings thus allowing all participants to deliver vehicles later than in the past, but also to get them back in Europe incredibly faster.
Dates for embarkation are September 21st and 22nd (the first day for bikes, the second for cars and trucks) and the Visemar One, the brand new ship running this link will get to Alexandria port on Monday 27th after a stop in Syria, ready to disembark the means which will challenge the Libyan/Egyptian desert.
The way back will be even faster, vehicles are due to be delivered on October 10th, the day after the rally finish and Visemar One will disembark after three days only, on October 13th .
"For us is a great fulfillment to be the Official Carrier of such a famous race as the Pharaons Rally" Stefano Tositti, Visemar Line chairman said "The partnership with JVD will help us to promote our new route which aims to become a referring point for transports with the South shore of the Mediterranean. It is a route dedicated on one side to the goods on wheels, on the other side to the touristic traffic for which it was difficult to reach Syria and Egypt so far. Now it’s all easier and faster."
The Visemar One has started its service last May, it offers the commercial and tourism traffic an alternative valid to the long car journey, thus guranteeing fast timing always on time.
The Venice-Alexandria-Tartous service foresees departures from Venice each Thursday with a stop in Tartous after 68 hours. Next stop is Alexandria in Egypt some 20 hours after leaving Tartous. Inner and outer four beds 67 cabins, coffee shop, restaurant, buffet, cinema and shops are there available for passengers.
