|Pharaons 2010 Inside: The Wildcat Trophy in the Land of Sacred Cats.|
Loyal to Pharaons Rally, the car crew Jérôme Pélichet/Eugénie Decré haven´t missed the yearly meeting since 2006. Conquered by the beauty of Egypt and the quality of the event, Eugénie Decré shares the story of Wildcat Trophy in the land where cats were worshiped.
Pharaons Rally has been a great event for Pélichet and Decré on their Bowler, with which they achieved the overall victory in the last edition. But not everything is about this victory for them; Pharaons Rally was the first race to ever receive the Bowler Trophy, today´s Wildcat Trophy.
Eugénie Decré, an asphalt rally expert, decides to bring the idea of a manufacturer´s cup to cross country rally, and after agreements with constructors and JVD, they raced in Pharaons 2007 for the very first time. "The Wildcat Trophy is a cup with the names of the season´s winners are engraved on it, and every year the winner gets to keep the cup, which is passed to the next winner by the end of the season," explains its creator.
In order to participate on it, the crew must drive a Wildcat made by Bowler or QTService, equipped by a gasoline or diesel engine and respect the FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup General Prescriptions for T1 vehicles to the date. Competitors can entry by contacting the organizer of the race and also use the Wildcat-Trophy form, available on [ www.wildcat-trophy.com ]. The entry will be valid for the whole season for which Pharaons is the third leg of 2010. Also, this cup allows competitors to have a different and independent classification, so they don´t stay as another sheep in the herd, as it explains Eugénie Decré.
"The spirit of Wildcat-Trophy is like that of the old days rallies, where crews helped each other like a family. We have a drink together in every race to share a good moment. For more than 5 competitors entering a race, crews get special prices and cups at the price giving ceremony too," adds Eugénie.
In 2009, the finish of Pharaons Rally was a spectacular scene for them. "The Wildcat took over the race by placing the three cars in the standings. Jérôme Pélichet won the race, followed by Checco Tonetti and Michael Visy. For us, it was the first overall victory in cross country rally together," tells the co-driver with pride.
This year, the Wildcat won´t miss out the rally. "Pharaons Rally is not only a race. It´s also a trip plenty of emotions, where we discover one of the most beautiful deserts of the world. I can only tell crews to do it at least once in their lives. A career in rally raid without doing the Pharaons is not completed," states Eugénie Decré, who will fight for their place in the standings like she has done with Jérôme Pélichet in Egypt for the last three years.
