 | Pharaons Rally: Cheaper fees, new final - and only int. Rally in Egypt?.
|
The legendary "Pharaons Rally" gets back this year - and back in the FIA/FIM Cross Country Rally World Cup. In the words of the organizer "JVD International", "the secret of the Rally is simple and resumed in one word: Passion - the passion of organizer Daniele Cotto, Marco Bucci & Co., which have built up a rally along the years where the focus is on the pilots. Safety, some small comforts at the bivouacs and care for each pilot needs are the must which come before any other aspect." For these reasons (and surely the great Egyptian landscape) the Pharaons Rally is a beautiful race inside the FIA and FIM Worldcups.
In 2010 also the French organizer "NPO" also wants to install a new marathonrally in Egypt included in their "Desert Series" (OiLibya Rally of Tunisia, Sphinx Rally Egypt and Shamrock Rally Morocco). But "JVD International" now said: "The Pharaons Rally is the only race in Egypt for 2010."
In Detail (JVD press release): "A press release already issued last December by ATCE (the Egyptian National Sport Authority referred both by FIA as well as by FIM) has pointed out that such event was not going to be authorized at the scheduled date of September. The Egyptian Tourism Minister has also explained through a newsletter of middle February that any Tout Terrain event had not to be in conflict with Pharaons Rally and therefore should be scheduled at least six months far from the Pharaons race. Finally the FIA - through an email message of its Commission President, Mr Derek Ledger, issued last March 9th - has ordered such September event advertisement to stop while labeling it "a fictitious rally".
The scouting staff is already at work to design the track and roadbook for the 2010 edition. "What we can advance is that Pharaons 2010 - even if short of one stage - develops over a route about 2,800 kilometers, a lot of sand, a lot of off-road, the usual outstanding landscapes which only the Egyptian desert is able to offer."
The Pharaons 2010 starts traditionally in front of the Giza Pyramids. A change in 2010 is the Rally arrival, this time on the seaside, in a resort near El Alamein, place of history facing a crystal sea. A pleasant novelty which allows for a refreshing dive once ended the rally hard work. One day after the arrival, vehicles leave for Alexandria shipping, while the evening unwinds with the prize giving ceremony.
Good news for participants: The entry fees will be 20% cheaper. The first deadline for registration has fallen in the end of March, but interested teams can profit also by the following rates still convenient when compared to the past, as well as by the fixed rate flight/hotel, which has never been so convenient.
