 | Pharaons Rally: Eric Vigouroux - "FIA CC Victory is a great satisfaction".
|
After a big "final" battle between the legendary Jean-Louis Schlesser and the French Eric Vigouroux at the Pharaons Rally in Egypt, the FIA Cross Country Worldcup 2010 for Two Wheel Drive cars is fixed: The Chevrolet Trophy Truck of the French Vigouroux and his co-driver Alex Winocq got the title. It was also a battle between the Tires: BF Goodrich (Schlesser, France/USA) against Toyo Tires (Vigouroux, Japan/USA).
Schlesser won the OiLibya Rally of Tunisia (10 points), Vigouroux was fourth (5 points), then Vigouroux won the "Portimao Estoril Marrakech" (10 points). Now Schlesser won overall the Pharaons Rally (another 10 points), but Vigouroux made the 2nd place in buggies and earned 8 points, so 23 points overall.
"After the creation of my team, this is the first time that we win an international championship" said Vigouroux after the race. "I receive this victory with a great satisfaction and most of all, this is the first step of our new program that I´m launching for the next seasons."
"Our first target will be the overall title in the FIA World Cup 2011, with the new car that is now under construction. Well, if our plans get confirmed, we will participate in 2012 Dakar with the ambition of being among the best in two wheel drive. Finish on one of the final top standings of the Dakar is far, but that it is the most ambitious of our objectives, for 2015", concludes Vigouroux.
"This week was very stressing. We didn´t come to Pharaons Rally for a walk, special stages are long with lots of dunes and we had many of problems. We were very close of withdrawal three times, but we overcame the obstacles. Finally, we finish sixth overall and most important, second in the two wheel drive category. We succeeded in the objective we put to ourselves."
