Faithfull to the Pharaons Rally, the French Team Dessoude starts this new edition with three Italian crews. Three T2 Pathfinders driven by the Cinotto family... father and sons.
Michele Cinotto, the father, is not unknown on the Egyptian tracks and has already participated to the "Pharaons Rally" more than two decades ago. A true homecoming for the rally driver who wanted to share his passion with his two sons, Carlo and Pietro.
For André Dessoude, Egypt has often been synonymous with success and intense emotions, but meeting Michele Cinotto again is a beautiful back in time. "Michele was with us for two or three seasons in the mid 80’s. At that time, the contingent of Italian drivers on our team was quite high. Three months ago, Michele expressed his desire to return to Egypt with his two sons. I felt that he was keen to be back in the dunes and to share this passion with his children, who have never participated to a rally" the Team-boss said.
"We did a practice session with the three crews and I have to admit that all the three went very well. Concerning Michele, it’s not a surprise as he was a brilliant asphalt rally driver on the 80’s with an Audi Quattro. In fact, he never really gave up the rally and took part in, at least, one or two events a year to have fun. It's also his motivation in coming to Egypt, having fun with his children! I hope there will not be too much competition within the team as all three cars are 100% identical. The goal is simple: have fun and cross the finish line!"
Since the first editions, the Pharaohs Rally has often smiled at the Dessoude Team which scored several times his name in the history of the race. "I love this rally and our team has great memories here. We won several times the overall classification with Grégoire de Mévius, Giorgio Beccaris, Yves Loubet and Christian Lavieille but also many victories in T2 category that allowed us to win the World Cup" he added.
"For over twenty years I use to come there (even from the first editions organized by Fenouil). I even participated as competitor dozen times. The Pharaohs Rally has always been a great test and was the second event of importance after the Dakar."
Tomorrow, after the start, given as usual at the Pyramids of Giza, the first leg will drive the competitors to Tibniya, near the oasis of Baharija. On the program, 356 km of special stage which are not supposed to be so easy...
