|Pharaons Rally: The third leg turned into a real battle for Team Dessoude.|
Competitors had to face some tasty dunes crossings, so shovels and sand plates were out. The 3rd stage of the "Pharaons Rally" on Wednesday headed south, towards the oasis of Farafra. But before joining the bivouac of Abu Mingar, the day was full of surprises for Team Dessoude’s crews.
At the beginning of todays route, Michele Cinotto’s Dessoude Buggy Juke was "flying", on the same pace as the top drivers. He was fourth at CP2. Unfortunately, between CP2 and CP3, this beautiful progres suffered a setback.
Once again, a competitor stopped in trouble was not signalized and to avoid any contact, Michele had to brake quite hard and the Buggy was stuck in the sand. It took thirty minutes helped by another competitor to get out of this mess.
A little later, another stop, but this time due to a puncture. Last part of the stage took place on a good pace until the finish and ended with a beautiful and deserved 9th place overall.
Michele admits to be more confortable in the dunes with a good feeling. The Buggy Juke meets his expectations with a power / weight ratio very impressive. Since the start, no mechanical problem to be noted and performance is there.
On the Nissan Pathfinder, Pietro Cinotto also has had a busy day. Mechanical session to start but more as a precaution than a necessity. The driveshaft screws seemed to be damaged, and the driver prefered to make the change. The operation took about 45 minutes.
A little further, a very soft sand was the biggest problem. Stuck a long time, much energy has been deployed to get back on track. While last part of the stage took place at best, 30 km from the finish - a puncture. Patience and exercise before reaching the goal. Mission accomplished!
