Por las Pampas 2007: South American FIA Rally to be run in September.

The Por las Pampas Cross Country Rally, counting towards the FIA and FIM World Series, will be run in September, 2007. The event that was run in March in the last editions moves later on in the year to distance from the legendary "Dakar", making the logistics operations of the teams easier.

During the last FIA Cross Country Commission meeting, the authorities and manufacturers reached agreement for the Por las Pampas to be run at the beginning of September. Nevertheless, the exact date will be known following the decision of the World Motor Sport Council that will have its next meeting on October 18th.

The FIA World Cross Country Commission also decided that in order to score points towards the Cup, the teams must run at least four rallies: Dubai, Transiberico, Por las Pampas and one round in Africa (Morocco, Tunisia or South Africa). Therefore, as Por las Pampas Cross Country Rally will be one of the compulsory rounds, the presence of the best drivers is assured. This measure shows the growth of the category, and the commitment of the main world level teams.

The change of date obliges the organizers to set a new route. The last snowfalls of the winter will make it difficult to visit the Patagonia and to cross the Andes as it was done in the last two editions. The organizing team has now the challenge to achieve a race as attractive and competitive as always, maintaining the lineal format of the past two years.
