Por las Pampas: López and Terranova won the final stage

The victory of the final stage of the Por Las Pampas Rally between Chilean towns Antofagasta and Iquique went to Francisco „Chaleco” López (Honda 450) on two wheels ans Orlando Terranova (X-Raid BMW X3CC) among the cars. Overall, Catalan Marc Coma (KTM 660) and the French duo of Luc Alphand and Gilles Picard (Mitsubishi Pajero Evo) triumphed – just like last year.

Among the bikes, Pal Anders Ullevalseter (KTM Rally) finished second with an accumulated time of 25:56:18, 02:07:44 slower than Coma. The third position was occupied by Coma’s team mate Jordi Viladoms, who returned to the race tracks after his big accident at the Dakar in January. The young Catalan had 02:53:16 gap to the winner. With his victory, Coma took the lead from Casteu in the FIM World Championship Cross-Country Rallies.

On four wheels, it was Orland Terranova who grabbed his third stage victory 4 minutes and 23 seconds in front of Luc Alphand, who faced some mechanical problems on the last special. In spite of that, the French duo captured the overall victory again, with a mere four hours’ advantage to the Argentinian Terranova.
