Portuguese CC: Race diary of Bernardo Moniz da Maia – Part 2.

It is always interesting to learn about how do those guys in the cockpit see the rallies from the inside. This weekend we have the honour to publish the diary of Bernardo Moniz da Maia, team mate of reigning Portuguese Champion Filipe Campos (X-Raid BMW X3 CC) from the TT Terras de Raia, seventh and penultimate round of the Portuguese Championship in Castelo Branco, Portugal.

"This first day of the Rali Terras da Raia, started before sunrise. We got in our BMW X3 at 7 am to park it at 18.30 pm. This was a very hard day with almost 11 hours in the car and some incidents in the middle. The race was to start with a 5 km Super Special which was cancelled because of a mistake in the marks at the end of the stage.

After that we drove to Idanha-a-Nova to do two passages in a track of 127km. In the first run, with two flat tyres to change during it, we finished in the ninth position. In the second turn, we were among the fastest teams and that allowed us to finish the day in fourth place with less than one minute to the third. Tomorrow we need to attack, to once more reach a podium place.

The Yser Racing Team had once more a brilliant exhibition, with the second place of Filipe Campos, twho was in the lead until the last 20 kms, but was delayed by a buggy from another championship that was on the road doing a lot of dust to him and making him loose a lot of time. But this is a team that fights until the end, and tomorrow will be a day, for sure, when we fight to arrive at the finish of the race in the top positions."
