|Rally of China: Sousa abandoned from race - Dakar will be continued.|
Never celebrate an eventually win too early: As reported, last week Carlos Sousa and Miguel Ramalho from Portugal participated in the "Rally of China" with their Great Wall prototype and were leading the rally until the last day with a big gap. But motorsport is motorsport and you never know what will happen...
"Bad luck knocked on the door": Leading the race from the third stage with nearly 29 minutes in front of their team-mates in the second Great Wall, Carlos Sousa and Miguel Ramalho retired from the rally only 100 kms before the finish line after a fire destroyed the wiring of their Great Wall Haval prototype, the same car in which they participated in the Dakar Rally 2013.
"It was a frustrating end" Sousa reported after the race. "From one moment to another the car turned off, the wiring was destroyed. The support team was able to solve the problem quickly but then the cord that feeds the injectors got burned, preventing the car to start again. But the participation in this event was a fantastic experience, also the beautiful landscape. I think we face the next Dakar with renewed optimism!"
Talking about the upcoming Dakar Rally 2014 he said: "After several conversations with the leaders of the Great Wall we can say that our project will be going on also after the Dakar 2014 and Great Wall will make a big investment in this project. The Dakar has a big popularity in China! The good news will be confirmed and published shortly by Great Wall."
