Romanian Baja: The Szalay team won stages and are now 2nd.

| |
| On the second day of the Romanian Baja (counts into championship evaluations with double multiplier) the Balázs Szalay - Dénes Tóth duo was the fastest on the two specials, while dropped back to 2nd position in the totals.
The Opel Frontera crew wasn't quite ready for huge gullets and puddles in their way, due to which their windscreen was constantly bedewed. Szalay - finishing first on both of Friday's sprint stages - took 39 kilometers being almost half-blind, starting out from the first place of course. In the meantime, however, István Gál - who started that round a position behind Szalay - got ahead of him.
The Opel duo couldn't work off their more than two minute backlog, not even with their victory of two special stages. Their backlog is exactly two minutes before the finishing day.
"Tracks were winding on stoney, rocky roads and mountain serpentines, so they were just beautiful - said Szalay. - Navigation is easy, too. First of all because the co-pilot is great, second of all because track is the same over and over, so if one doesn't get lost for the first time, then he won't have orientation troubles further on. We also tested the tires, and the Pirelli tires aced the test. "
On the Sunday finish it will be the same tracks to drive on, with a slight difference however; that due to the rain that fell Saturday night there mud will be enormous.
Who will the winner be under such conditions? It will definitely be the one who finds the limit not yet so dangerous, but fast enough. For the Szalay - Tóth duo victory is the goal, but reality is convincing the pilot; if Gál makes no mistake and no technological obstacles stand in his way, not much of a chance is left to work off the two minute drawback on the rapid.
Absolute ranking after 6 special stages:
01) István Gál/Tibor Oroszlán | Baba Proto | 4:09:31
02) Szalay/Tóth D | Opel Frontera | + 2 min
03) Kis/Czeglédi | Nissan Pick-Up | + 12:56 min
