|Rugged Radios sponsoring California´s Desert Dingo Racing for 2012 Season|
Desert Dingo Racing announced today that Rugged Radios, a leading supplier of communication systems to the offroad, sandcar, UTV and racing industries, will extend its support for the team for its 2012 season.
Desert Dingo Racing uses Rugged Radio’s signature line Vertex VX2200 VHF mobile radios in its race car and chase trucks. The Class 11 race car also uses a Rugged-designed RRP660 intercom (complete with iPhone adapter). The team also uses HX370 Submersible VHF 40 channel 5 Watt handhelds and headsets for spotting during short course races.
"We’re getting better range and much better audio quality since switching to Rugged Radios," said Desert Dingo Racing co-founder Jim Graham. "We’re probably one of the first to use spotting for Class 11 short course racing and it’s a substantial competitive advantage."
Desert Dingo Racing competes in off road desert racing in California and Nevada and is the official World Diabetes Day race car in the Baja 1000. The team took First in Class in Desert, Short Course and Overall in Class 11 during the Valley Off Road Racing 2011 season. The team raises money to support diabetes awareness and education programs sponsored by the International Diabetes Federation.
"With over 15 years experience Rugged Radios is constantly worked to deliver rugged, reliable communication systems for off road racers, weekend enthusiasts, emergency responders and the aviation industry," said company president Greg Cottrell.
"The Desert Dingo team is close to heart since my eight year old son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes almost 2 years ago. We actively support the efforts of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. I respect what Desert Dingo Racing is doing to raise awareness of the risks of diabetes and we’re proud to support their efforts."
Desert Dingo Racing is a team of high tech professionals based in Santa Cruz and Silicon Valley who campaign a 1969 VW Beetle in off road races in the U.S. and Mexico. They are the official World Diabetes Day race car and the team raises money for diabetes education and awareness programs sponsored by the International Diabetes Federation.
